What Kind of Longboarder are You? Here are 2 Awesome Longboards
Regardless of whether you are an intermediate surfer or an advanced surfer we have a couple of longboards that will rock your longboarding world. That may seem a little "hypie" but if you've surfed either of our longboards you know... they are magic. Let's start off by figuring what kind of longboarder you are. Do you like to cruise, carve, and just catch the most waves you can or are you a noserider that lives for that soul arch?
Want to cruise, carve, and cutback like a pro?
For the majority of longboarders out there, our Ultimate longboard is going to be just the ticket. Smooth, stable, awesome paddler, and oh so maneuverable. It is a dream to ride. In fact it has been so well received that out of the 1,108 of them that we have sold, 2 people have said that they didn't like it. That's not a miss print only 2 people were unhappy with it.
So what size should you get?
This is going to be based on your height and weight. Below is a simple graph to help you figure out which size is going to be the best for you. For most size and weight categories you will have two choices. The best choice for you will be based on your surfing goals. If you are just wanting to have fun, then go with the longer one. If you're surfing for the challenge of it, and intend on moving down in board size as fast as possible, then go with the shorter one.

Here is what just a couple of surfers had to say about it-

“I received the board yesterday paddled out this am and had a awesome time! Thank you so much. The board surfs just like you said. It turns like no other longboard I’ve been on! I can finally go back side and make some turns because of the quickness rail to rail of the board!.” -Sam Johnson Wilmington, NC
"I am 60 years old and decided to get back into surfing after taking 5 years off. I tried on my old 9'6 board but needed something that could float me better and perform with less effort. The first couple of weeks I stayed inside the jetty (the learners section) until I had the board wired and felt in good enough shape to move to the outside break with the big boys. Decided that dawn patrol would be my best bet because there would not be a crowd. Paddled out with just two other surfers in the water. OK here we go, grabbed a peak, over head on the take off with a chest high wall. Oh my God, the board performed better than I ever expected. Cutting back and then moving forward this 10 foot tank of a board thinks it is a short board. I was surprised that to turn the board one only needs to use the ball on the forward part of his foot. Second wave, should I chance it? Why not, walked to the nose, OK, about one foot back from the nose, the board held its trim and I could not believe how stable it was. Ah crap, people are starting to paddle out into the line up. Do I paddle out further to avoid the crowd and wait or stay inside? Decided to paddle out further a wait for an outside. Finally one jumps up right in front of me. Any other time I would not have attempted a late take off with my other board, but now had confidence this one would not pearl. I grabbed a good one and dropped in pulling off a bottom turn like the old days. But what really impressed me was how fast the board climbed to the center of the wave when I pressed the rail into the side of the wave. The best parts were the hoots and hollers I received from the surfers inside. That has never happened to me in my entire life. All in all I caught about 12 waves during my session. I know it does not sound like a lot, but for a 60 year old out of shape guy, it was the best day I have had in a long time. You guys are the real deal, I hope you are in business for a long time, thanks. Pray for surf. " -Reggie Jones San Diego, CA

Trying to perfect that soul arch while hanging 'em?
For those of you that dream in noserides and hanging ten, we have our Ladle Longboard. This board is a little flatter with a deep nose concave for epic noserides and perfect control. This board is an all around great surfer too as long as you have some speed.
Need a hand picking the right size?
Here's a quick glance guide on picking the right Ladle based off your height and weight. Keep in mind, this isn't a be all, end all guide---if you're a little more advanced, don't hesitate to go down a size. Like the Ultimate size guide, those of you that are looking for the thrill of a good challenge, grab the lower end of the suggested size range. Soul surfers and cruisers on the other hand would be better served with a longer board.

Here's what surfers are saying about it-

"Degree33, You'd asked that I let you know how I liked the board. You will recall, I ended up with the 9' 2" Hanger. I have been surfing since 1964 and throughout that time, I have had a variety of surfboard shapes and sizes. However, I realized some time ago that I am a longboarder at heart. My last board was an Encinitas 8' 6" concave nose. I dearly loved that board and the day I sold it in preparation to move to Nashville was the saddest day I can remember. That was in 1994. This two week adventure to return to surfing has been wonderful. It could not have happened without your assistance. In spite of how attached I was to the Encinitas board, your Hanger is infinitely more responsive in turns. I credit that to the unique shape. I had so much fun with this board and as I return again to Nashville, I await my next opportunity to take it out. I'm planning on a week in October. Thanks again. Your service is outstanding." -Dan O'Grady San Diego, CA

I’m looking for a lighter more manueverable long board. Currently on a 9-4 Modern triple stringer (3.25×22.5 I think). I love it but it’s heavy and can be tough to sharply turn. I am 6’ 180lbs. 52 years old. Intermediate level. I like to carve more than cruise straight and I like speed and bigger/steeper waves versus nose riding small waves. I do like to travel up and down the board but rarely nose ride. I’m thinking about the 8-6 ultimate, but I recall borrowing an 8-0 fish one time and didn’t like the amount of paddling I had to do to get outside and I missed many waves that I normally would have caught with my board. So I want all the benefits of the +9 footers but in a higher performance shorter board. Do you think the 8-6 would do this or do you think the 9-0 would be best. FYI I started on a 9-0 Bruce Jones (23×3.6).
I am the same size and I surf the 9’ Ultimate NexGen. I upgrade my fin to the FCS EZ-Trim and the maneuverability is insane. By far the most maneuverable LB I have ever ridden. Highly recommend going that way.
