Grom Places First On Custom Degree 33 Board

Seth Hutchinson (a.k.a Bruce Lee), takes first in the 6 – 8 year old division at the Keiki Grom Fest competition in Kauai.

Launched in memory of Sion Milosky, who passed away one year ago while surfing Mavericks, CA – the Keiki Grom Fest was a way for family, friends and local pros to come together in remembrance of his awesomeness. Father of two and passionate for the sport and lifestyle, the monster waves Sion surfed were small in comparison to the heart he had for those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A resident of Houston TX, Seth was at a clear disadvantage to the five Hawaiian natives in his class. With less than two years experience under his belt, Seth has worked tirelessly to improve his abilities. At only 1-2 ft and mushy on the day of competition, the 5’11 custom short board Seth used worked out in his favor. The  board gave Seth enough float and paddle speed to catch waves where the other groms were left hanging. Degree33's short boards are all based on our top tier NexGen epoxy; offering some of the lightest, fun to ride boards on the market.

Kelley Hunt, owner of Kelley’s Surf School in Poipu Kauai, has worked closely with Seth to help him develop his foundation to make him a real threat. Local pro, Roy Powers also assisted Seth in developing his abilities in the weeks leading up to his competition. Hats off to Seth, our Degree 33 grom warrior!

There is actually a good formula for this….

Surf Ninja Genetics + Hard Work & Training + Degree 33’s NexGen short board performance driven design + Lucking out and getting to spend 2 months every year surfing Hawaii’s breaks = Winning!
