Epoxy surfboards may appear to be the new kids on the block but they have been around for a while. Epoxies are notorious for being lighter and stronger than a regular fiberglass surfboard. They are also better for the environment.

The reason why they are lighter is because of a difference in their foam core. The core of an epoxy surfboard is less dense than that of a glass board. This makes the board not only lighter, allowing it to be quicker and snappier in the water, but also keeps the board floating better than a glass board (the better float, the easier it is to paddle).

The strength of an epoxy surfboard comes from its super tough resin and increase in fiberglass cloth. This keeps the board more durable and in some cases extends the life of the surfboard.
